What Our Community Says
Genuine words from the residents we've had the pleasure to care for.
"I feel accepted and supported in the community I have been a part of creating. Things are not always easy and I know I experience the world differently than most other people but there are programs, options and people at heyChicago! who can help. It takes a lot of work, a lot of patience and a lot of trial and error but don’t give up. My family never did and neither did I and because of this I feel encouraged and able to contribute to my family, friends and community."
- John T.
"Thanks to the patient guidance with time management, program development and daily routines, I finally feel there is order, wellness, connection, meaning and peace in my son’s life every single day."
- A Grateful Mom
"The team at heyChicago! helped me break down overwhelming tasks into manageable steps, and now I'm successfully living on my own for the first time."
- A Grateful Community Member
"I’ve worked with the APlus team for over ten years. It’s a nice place to be and I am well cared for. I get time to myself which I like. I like the Saturday outings, road trips and working out and running with Martha and John. I’ve learned to take care of my home by doing chores and taking care of myself. I’ve learned to rely on other people helping me rather than one person only. I’ve strengthened important family relationships like with my dad."
- Dan C.
"The APlus team has provided my adult son with a vital structure for his daily activities, both residentially, and when he is out in the community. The staff are very professional and caring to ensure he has a safe and relatively happy environment. This organization provides one of the few and effective residential and community programs in Illinois for Neurodiverse adults who still need important daily structure to their lives."
- A Grateful Dad
"My son joined the community and has been employed at Mariano's in the West Loop since 2014. This is now his home and the team are his friends and in many ways part of his family. I can attest to the strength and growth my son has attained by being part of this fine organization. Neither my family nor I can think of what his life would be like without APlus."
- Bill C.
